Oxygen MIDI controllers have always been known for providing high-quality features and performance at a reasonable price. M-Audio has now upgraded Oxygen to Oxygen Pro, which includes everything you need to compose music at a pace that matches your professional creative workflow. It all begins with a brand-new velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted keybed with aftertouch and assignable zones.
Oxygen Pro has 16 illuminated, assignable, velocity-sensitive RGB pads with Note Repeat for beat production, clip launching, and more. The Oxygen Pro 49 and 61 have nine onboard faders and eight assignable knobs and buttons, whereas the Oxygen Pro 25 has no faders or buttons in favour of a small, backpack-friendly design. All three versions have a road-ready, USB bus-powered chassis with a straightforward layout and informative OLED screen, allowing you to get up and running right away.
Aftertouch is a function that you might not realise you need until you use it. It's usually only present on high-end keyboards. Sweetwater's synth wizards use it just like any other MIDI CC, but the fact that it doesn't require you to take your hands off the keyboard (or use a pedal) makes it even more important.
Leaning into a note you're already playing to add some juicy vibrato to the tail end is perhaps the best example of aftertouch in action. The Oxygen Pro has a mod wheel, and while it doesn't have an expression pedal jack, you may use any of the assignable knobs to control any continuous controller function.
Oxygen Pro is jam-packed with useful features that combine all of the tools you'll need to make music into a single, powerful package. There's no need to get mired down in tiresome music theory with Oxygen Pro's Smart Chord mode, which allows you to play intricate enharmonic or custom chord voicings, and its Smart Scale mode, which eliminates erroneous notes so you can solo like a virtuoso. A full-featured Arpeggiator with type, octave, gate, and swing controls is also included.
The configuration also includes DAW transport controls, ergonomic pitch-bend and mod wheels, a sustain pedal jack, 5-pin MIDI out, and USB-MIDI. Pro Tools | First M-Audio Edition, MPC Beats, and Ableton Live Lite DAW software are included in Oxygen Pro, as well as a large virtual instrument plug-in and MPC expansion pack bundle.
