It’s hard to name that one person who’s never played a guitar, or at least, wanted to. Hobbyists and occasional guitar players are in abundance, but those handful who are in dire need of a good acoustic guitar will certainly like what we’ve prepared.
- Grand Auditorium
- Layered Rosewood
- Expression System
- Satin with Gloss Top
Taylor 214ce is reinforced with the solid- Sitka spruce top; the tonewood standard of the modern era. The most commonly used wood for guitar tops; Sitka generates a broad dynamic range and accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking. Taylor’s layered backs and sides incorporate three layers of wood, featuring a middle core of poplar with a veneer on each side. While layered woods won’t produce quite as complex a sound as solid woods, they allow us to blend exotic looks with climate-resilient construction. The Grand Auditorium shape produces an original acoustic voice that is big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming, yet with impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the midrange, producing clear, well-defined notes that suit both strumming and fingerstyle playing.
The Expression System® 2; a revolutionary pickup design that captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
Venetian Cutaway is standard on all ‘ce’ models. The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway is steeped in 214ce when compared with a Dreadnought.
